WHO WE ARE

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS

Tea Party Patriots, Inc. as an organization that believes in the Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government, and Free Markets. Tea Party Patriots, Inc. is a non-partisan grassroots organization of individuals united by our core values derived from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill Of Rights as explained in the Federalist Papers. We recognize and support the strength of grassroots organization powered by activism and civic responsibility at a local level. We hold that the United States is a republic conceived by its architects as a nation whose people were granted "unalienable rights" by our Creator. Chiefly among these are the rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." The Tea Party Patriots stand with our founders, as heirs to the republic, to claim our rights and duties which preserve their legacy and our own. We hold, as did the founders, that there exists an inherent benefit to our country when private property and prosperity are secured by natural law and the rights of the individual.

SWMTPP Mission Statement:

To firmly communicate to our elected officials the message that they must return to the principles, laws and values upon which our nation was founded: Individual liberty, limited government, and a respect for the Constitution.
Core Principles
The Southwest Michigan Tea Party Patriots is a true grassroots organization. We are not united under a single political party or leader; however, we are united under the following
Core Principles:
  • Respect for the Constitution
Our government is a republic based on our Constitution and we expect our elected officials to write laws that respect the Constitution as written, or to lawfully amend the Constitution.
  • Limited Government
Government at all levels has grown too big and too powerful, and as such is taking away individual freedoms and liberty. We support a return to a smaller, less intrusive and more manageable government that answers to the people as the Founders intended.
  • Separation of Powers
The proper role of the Legislative Branch is to use plain language to write laws that, within the limits of the Constitution, protect the rights and liberties of the individual citizen.
The proper role of the Executive Branch is to execute and enforce the Constitution and the laws written by the Legislature.
The proper role of the Judicial Branch is to strictly interpret the Constitution and laws as written by the legislature. Judges who legislate from the bench steal constitutional authority and thus liberty from the people.
  • Protection of Individual Rights
As conceived in the Declaration of Independence, our nation guarantees that each individual is endowed by his Creator with certain unalienable rights, those being; "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." It is the responsibility of the federal government, as defined in the Constitution, to protect the individual rights of the American citizen.
  • Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency
Fiscal responsibility is the duty of all elected officials. Balanced budgets and transparency of expenditures is paramount to public trust. Budget deficits represent generational theft.
  • Free Trade and Commerce
Free trade between individuals and corporations is crucial to maintaining a prosperous civil society. Intrusion of the Federal government in the banking, financial and corporate industries, and any governmental collusion with corporations, unions or special interest groups is a violation of the Constitution.
  • Taxes
We support the movement to replace the current system of tax codes with a fairer, flatter, more equitable system.
The United States is a capitalist nation where citizens have the right to prosper and accumulate individual wealth. We vigorously oppose all policies which attempt to redistribute individual wealth and earned income through the confiscation of tax revenue.

Historic Quotes

"

"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children (America), the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done." -- Ronald Reagan
